OUR STORY
In 2006, visionary entrepreneur Saul Hernandez and skilled sculptor/ceramist Uldis Lopez formed an exciting partnership. Their shared passion for art led them to embark on a remarkable venture – the establishment of a bronze foundry.
During Saul’s exploration of Uldis Lopez’s impressive portfolio, one sketch mesmerized him. It beautifully portrayed a woman cradling a precious baby, evoking waves of nostalgia as she resembled his beloved wife in her youth.
Inspired by this profound connection, Uldis eagerly embraced the challenge of giving life to the woman in the sketch, translating her essence into a tangible masterpiece. And so, the inaugural sculpture of the Catula Collection was born, aptly named “Maternidad” (Motherhood), becoming the cornerstone of this extraordinary collection.
The name “Catula” charmingly emerged from the fusion of cherished Hernandez family members: Cacho and Tula, two adorable French Bulldogs who brought immense joy and companionship. Inspired by their playful energy and unwavering loyalty, Saul and Uldis infused their spirit into their creative endeavor’s name.
Today, the Catula Collection encompasses five distinct series, each brimming with profound stories and evocative forms. Continuing to captivate art enthusiasts worldwide, it stands as a timeless tribute to the power of collaboration, inspiration, and the enduring beauty of artistic expression.
